On this occasion, we will talk about the Bible for Christians. The Bible originally came from the Latin word "Biblia", which means "books". History noted the word Biblia comes from the Greek "Ta Biblia" (the books). Bible is the holy and sacred scriptures full of good talks from God to guide Christians. According to the New Zealand Bible Society, the Bible has inspired many people throughout history in lifestyle, politics, laws, literacy, art, and more. Essentially, the Bible will guide people to practice good deeds, spread kindness, and believe in God. The Bible has two segments, the Old Testament and New Testament. The Old Testament is about the time before the birth of Jesus. Meanwhile, the New Testament is about Jesus' life and after it. The Bible have 39 books in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament. The Bible is a literary collection by various prophets and historians from the past. They write narratives, stories, poetry, philosophical reflection, and letters. The most known work is The Book of Revelation. All the written works tell us about the relationship between humans and God.

How to Introduce Children to Bible?

Even though it might look a little bit intimidating, introducing the Bible to children can be fun and exciting. Getting the kids familiar with the Bible is essential because the scripture has many precious lessons that the kids could gain and apply in their life. The parents do not need to wait until the kids can read to start learning the Bible. The earlier they study will be the merrier. Based on Awana, the nonprofit organization of international evangelical Christians for children and teenager discipleship, there are some ways to teach the Bible to children:

  1. Parents could introduce the Bible as God's message. It is the medium for humans to communicate with Him.
  2. Tell the kids that the Bible consist of two parts (the Old and New Testaments).
  3. Advise the kids about the Bible's essence in human life.
  4. Ensure to make the Bible accessible to the children, and let them interact with the holy book, even though they cannot read it yet.
  5. Get a Bible for kids to encourage them to study.
  6. Guide the students to sing a song about the Bible.
  7. Use a close and relatable example when you teach the kids about Bible.

Why Should Children Learn Bible?

Knowing and understanding the holy book from a young age will positively impact children. They will learn about the necessity of kindness and getting close to God. It is the parent's role to help children learn the Bible. Below are some reasons why young children should learn the Bible:

  1. Learning the Bible will support the kids in getting to know Him. The kids will understand and trust God because they believe in His guidance and love.
  2. Reading the Bible could get young kids to realize the trueness of God's words.
  3. Studying the Bible over and over will help us to remember His sayings.
  4. Understanding the scripture helps us to be grateful and free us from stressful feelings.
  5. Believing in the holy book will help the kids to recognize their sins and avoid them at the next chance.
  6. Learning God's words will protect us from many evil intentions.
  7. Reading the Bible forms the kids' personality around the love of God. 

What are the Five Themes of the Bible?

The Bible is a scripture which will guide His people into the path full of lights. It teaches humans to respect and help each other while worshipping Him. There are various topics which we could learn in the Bible. There are five themes in the Old Testament, covenant, kingship, grace, sacrifice, and prophecy. A covenant is a divine and solemn pact between God and His people. God promises to give His people blessings, and humans should praise and pray to Him. Kingship is how Jesus is the King for the Christians and will lead and guide them. In the Old Testament, grace means blessings and benevolence from God to all humans. Sacrifice means that humans give tribute or dedication to God as a form of praise. Lastly, prophecy is the message from God to guide humans to keep walking on His path.   

What are the Life Lessons from Bible?

Learning the Bible will help us to communicate and put God as our priority. It teaches us to treasure our relationship with Him and remind ourselves how He always pours love on us. The scripture also encourages us to depend on Him when we face troubles. Bible is not just a holy book to connect us with God. It is the guide and instructions for humans to live based on His rules. The Bible teach us to spread kindness and take care of everything and everyone. Use our capabilities to help those in need.
